Rotary is once again providing backpacks filled with school supplies to low income high school students in the area. We work with 2 local organizations (Steps-to-Success & ESWA) who actually identify those students receiving the backpacks (we don't know who specifically the students are).
Members are asked to either donate funds or to purchase the needed supplies listed on our website. For that list, click Backpacks .... and then click on "Backpacks" again under the Volunteers heading. We ask you to sign up for specific items so we can more easily assess what we have and what might be missing. Members can drop off the actual items purchased at Elias Audy's Mobil Station on the corner of Cypress St and Rt 9 before 8/12/23, or bring the items to our meeting on 8/22 when together we will fill the backpacks.
For those members who may elect to donate funds, please click the yellow Donate button for our Brookline Rotary Charitable Foundation and make a tax-deductible donation so our Service Committee can do the shopping. Donations also need to be made by 8/12/23 so we have time for shopping.
And finally, at our evening meeting on 8/22/24, we will join with staff from our two partner organizations to fill the backpacks with supplies, and enjoy fellowship together over pizza and drinks.
